Go with your gut – intuition is more than just a hunch, says Leeds research
Most of us experience ‘gut feelings’ we can’t explain, such as instantly loving – or hating – a new property when we’re househunting or the snap judgements we make on meeting new people. Now researchers at Leeds say these feelings – or intuitions – are real and we should take our hunches seriously.

What the Heart Knows
Dr. Bruce H. Lipton has done an elegant job of showing how the dogma of genetic determinism is just that – dogma. He has shown that our genes and cells respond to signals from outside the cells, including the hormonal and energetic messages that reflect our emotional, mental and spiritual experiences. Lipton and others’ research reveals that rather than being determined by our genes, we actually are continually changing our genes by what we choose to think, feel and do. Such choices are constantly being genetically encoded in our brain and energetic structures.

In some cases using your instincts is better than thinking too hard
Trusting your instincts may help you to make better decisions than thinking hard, a study suggests. University College London found making subconscious snap decisions is more reliable in certain situations than using rational thought processes.

‘You’ve got to find what you love,’ Jobs says
”...Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary...”

We feel-see the future in hearts
Are human beings intuitively aware of future events? Stories constantly circulate about people suddenly deciding to take another route home, thus avoiding disaster. Or those who seek contact with a loved one just when that loved one is in danger. Is that intuition? Coincidence? Do these people have access to information about the future? HeartMath wanted to begin to answer those questions and devised the following study involving 26 subjects.

Brain Region Learns To Anticipate Risk, Provides Early Warnings. Suggests New Study
Following the Asian tsunami, scientists struggled to explain reports that primitive aboriginal tribesmen had somehow sensed the impending danger in time to join wild animals in a life-saving flight to higher ground. While some scientists discount the existence of a sixth sense for danger, new research from Washington University in St. Louis has identified a brain region that clearly acts as an early warning system—one that monitors environmental cues, weighs possible consequences and helps us adjust our behavior to avoid dangerous situations.

It Pays to Trust Your Gut
If the premise of Blink has any merit, then by the time you’re reading this sentence, you’ve likely already made some snap judgments about this story. Perhaps that’s because you read the author’s previous book, the best-selling Tipping Point, or enjoyed his many magazine articles or even have feelings about stories written by the writer of this review.

The Powers and Perils of Intuition
Instinct has the power to hush reason. But when is it safe to go with your gut? Researchers may remain uncertain about the reliability of intuition, but it is a difficult force to deny. Here, David G. Meyers, Ph.D., explores this mystery in an adaptation from his new book, Intuition: Its Powers and Perils.
